Eunice Oke

Hi there,

I took a journey down memory lane, reflecting on my time as a Co-lead at the Google Developer Students Club at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Nigeria., I see how much it shaped my personal growth and career path.

In this role, I faced many challenges and opportunities that helped me grow. Working with passionate peers, I learned about project management, event planning, and community building. Organizing workshops, and networking events pushed me to improve my leadership skills.

I developed a passion for event planning. Creating agendas, coordinating logistics, and seeing our events' positive impact was incredibly satisfying. Whether it was a coding competition or a guest lecture, bringing our ideas to life was fulfilling.

Community management was also crucial. We worked hard to create a welcoming and inclusive environment. Through social media, meetups, and hashtag#mentoring, we made sure everyone felt valued and empowered.

Interacting with people from different backgrounds was enriching. Mentorship and collaboration showed me how technology can empower aspiring developers. These experiences broadened my view and fueled my desire to drive positive change in the tech community.

Looking back, my time as a Co-lead was key in shaping my goals and sense of purpose. The dynamic environment of the Google Developer Students Club EKSU, GDSC EKSU, helped me realize my true calling: to use technology for meaningful impact and societal change. The connections and lessons from this experience continue to guide my personal and professional journey.

A big shout out to my Lead and Core Team Members 😊.
